After sowing my seeds in a heated propagator eight days ago, I have some progress already! I think near enough all my seeds are starting to show signs of germination, especially the chillies and strawberries. This surprised me as I can remember on the back of each seed packet it should take between 21 – 30 days. The peppers are starting to show signs of germination this morning so in a few more days I am expecting a few shoots from them also. I sowed some red onion seeds on day 3, these are slowly getting there.

I’ve been making sure that during this germination stage the soil for all my seeds has stayed moist. I use a spray bottle filled with water to achieve this, as doing it this way it causes minimal disturbance to the seeds. Now that half of them have germinated, I need to start thinking about taking the domes off. This can block light and now they have sprouted, don’t require as much moisture.
One thing I am unsure of… I sowed 8 seeds of each variety of chilli. However, only half of each have sprouted. Does this mean that the others have failed, or am I just being impatient and must wait longer? Any tips and pointers would be appreciated!
